Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.6 percent to 27,483.51 and the Shanghai Composite index in mainland China rose 0.2 percent to 3,278.15. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 climbed 0.9 percent to 5,780.40. Taiwan’s benchmark rose while Southeast Asian indexes were mixed.
